How involved is your fiance in the wedding planning?

Tagged Under : , , ,

I was thinking about this because my hubby’s twin brother is getting married and he is super involved in the planning. He even looks at bridal magazines and pictures of dresses with my future SIL.

I thought this was interesting because my hubby was very laid back about our wedding planning. He was more of a “whatever you want, honey” type of guy. : )

It’s amazing how different they are in regards to this! They’re identical by the way.

So how involved would you say your fiance is in the wedding planning?
Just curious. : )

  1. My fiance doesn’t care about ANYTHING. It’s actually pretty annoying. I want his opinion and he says he just doesn’t have one. How do you NOT have an opinion!? Haha. You’re SIL is lucky to have a guy with that quality! It is pretty odd, you hardly ever hear about a groom who’s super involved in the planning. =]

  2. He goes through phases. Sometimes he could really care-less. But then when I was going to go buy the pillow, flower girl basket, etc without him, he asked me to wait because he wanted to come with me and help pick it out. Both, Im very grateful for. I’ve given him the duty of our honeymoon. As long as he can get that together, Ill be happy!

  3. My fiance is very involved with the wedding details. He picked out the accent colors and is very vocal about his thoughts on my wedding gown.

I love the fact that he is so involved because it is “OUR” day contrary to popular “bridezilla” belief.

However it is going to be important that you engage him, by asking his thoughts on certain aspects, but I caution you ..take baby steps. Start with “Honey, how do you feel about buffet or sit down” for the dinner.

Always start with food :) they can relate to that. Then slowly ease into , colors, time of the ceremony, his tuxedo…and there you have it a fully engaged, involved fiance which will lead to a healthy and happy PARTNERSHIP in your marriage.

  4. My husband wanted to involved with certain things. He really wanted to make sure the music was flawless at the ceremony and reception as he has seen many wedding in which it wasn’t and he wanted his different. He was also very involved in the food. We did a potluck style reception and he wanted to be the one coordinating the food since he wanted to make sure we had food that we liked. Other than that, he completely wanted me to do the rest. He was involved slightly though in the picking of the place we had it. That actually he was most picky about without being involved as much. He just had criteria that a place had to match but didn’t care where I chose as long as all criteria he had was met.

  5. He’s involved only long enough to open his wallet and pay for things. Works for us! :)

  6. My fiance is like your hubby, for the most part. “It’s your bag”, he says. I asked him tonight if he wanted to go with me to meet the photographer I’m considering. Nope.
I’m having a Cinderella wedding, though, so there are some must haves for him there (or some must NOT haves, I guess….lol) like no pinks or purples (too gay), no prince charming outfits for my nephews (again too gay), and he has to approve the invitations (no cinderella and prince on front, but a castle is ok). (The stuff in parentheses about being gay are his reactions to the thought of those colors, etc.) I’m trying to run ideas by him but he just kind of just shrugs it off. Oh well. I guess that I’m doing good by talking him into a wedding wedding. I guess he always said that if he ever got married it’d just be at the courthouse with maybe 10 people there. If that’s the case I’m doing GREAT…. Church wedding, big party recption with a current guest list of about 220.

  7. My fiance is pretty relaxed about it. It’s his second marriage so he just keeps telling me that this is my day and we can do it however I want. But when I do ask for input or his ideas, he does share them with me. We go over a few things together but mainly it is myself, my MOH, and my parents. That also could be the fact he is stationed 1500 miles away from me as well but I do get him involved.

  8. My fiance is, sadly, more involved than me in planning our wedding. He makes all the appointments, we look at all the magazines and websites together, so far he is the only one who has set up a music list, he has told me what color flowers he doesn’t like and does like, which ones he likes and doesn’t like, we both went to look at bridesmaid dresses and he made the final selection, he and I spent the day looking at linens and table settings together, he is in charge of decorations,…you get the point. It’s nice because this is something that is important to both of us obviously but sometime hard because he is soooo involved and we have different opinions and it’s hard to give up what I imagined to compromise. Still, I love spending the time with him and knowing he cares about this day as well.

  9. Not at all. He just stays out of it. Sometimes it really upsets me. I wish he were more involved, but he says it is a girl thing and just tell him where to show up.

  10. Hi, My Husband was really involved in planning our wedding 18 months ago. We would organise our very own “wedding meetings” where we would discuss everything that had to be organised. We sat down with a glass of wine, a pen and paper – try it, it might encourage him a bit! Good Luck with the wedding !

  11. He pretty much says “uh huh” “Ok” “Sure” and my favorite “Do whatever will make you happy”. There have been a few things he said no to, but we’re both Gemini’s so I know if I just ask him another day he’ll say ok LOL.

He did have a groomzilla moment where he announced loudly “It’s MY wedding” but after I gave him *the look* he went back to playing his video game and hasn’t made a peep since.

  12. My husband was really involved in planning: I think the only things he wasn’t as interested in was my bridesmaids clothes, and the selections of the flowers. But we definitely planned the whole wedding together, step-by-step. It was really nice to share that time with him, and because we were both so into the planning, the wedding ended up being a really great reflection of us both.

  13. In the beginning, we talked about what we expected and the small wedding was our compromise. Pretty much, other than getting updates, that has been the end of his involvement. His kids, on the other hand, have spent a LOT of time researching, finding deals, suggestions. They are totally into the planning and now that my dress and his vest are done, they are doing most of the stuff.

Currently, they are down to just planning out the appetizers that will be served (we are having reception at our new home). I gave them my cookbooks and we started trying out recipes this weekend, adding one, eliminating others. This has been kindof fun and leaves me with more time to do other stuff since I just bought a house from a relative and need to do work on that before the wedding reception can be held there (we haven’t moved in yet).
