Hi all. This may sound very odd but i am planning my wedding, i have been with my partner for 12 years and we have 2 children so a very small wedding is what we have decided on. There will be 20 people max who will be attending and would love to get married in my parents stunning garden. I have no idea where to start and even if i can get married this way. We have a small budget. I would also love some ideas on eve entertainment for such a small crowd. Thanks peeps xxx

  1. i’m afraid you can only get married in a registered place. So your probably not going to be able to do it in your parents garden.
Perhaps, get married in a registry office and then have the reception in their garden?
Registry office weddings are much cheaper than paying a registrar to come out to a venue ( roughly £40 rather than £150 )
Or. If you look online there are quite a few elopement packages, these normally have around a maximum of 20 guests, and are good for on a budget.

  2. If you’re in australia, you can get married where ever you like, but it depends on the country.

  3. Depend where you are, I would think. ………….. Now,, I’m in Australia, & we got married down on the Foreshore in Frankston. (The Frankston City Council even got in & cleaned the place up for us at No charge, it was their wedding present to us! “Thanks Guys!”) …. I have even seen a couple get married at the Football on the oval, as the ‘Half Time Entertainment!!” …………. OK, You have a small budget, let’s go with that. … Your Biggest expense, will be the Fee for the Wedding Celebrant, that’s around $300. to $500. & NO, I didn’t forget a 0. ….. Venue:: Your Parents Garden, COST = $0. Food: Remember that Mum’s love to get involved in Weddings, & Men think they are the world’s greatest chefs, when standing over a barbecue! Put that to use! :: “Allow” your mothers, DON’T make it sound like you “Want them to do you a favour, make it sound like, OK, I don’t mind if you two help out, that would be a big help. ” See the subtle difference?” & You can “Allow” the mothers to get/make the wedding cake, or maybe one could make the cake, & the other one could make or but Your Wedding Dress. (unless you already have one). It is really Nice of you,, if you let her Pick your dress for you, AND you show you like her choice! … Use the same tactics to get the Dad’s to act as Chef’s. & Between 2 sets of parents, & you 2 as well,, the actual Cost of Catering will be From $0. Up to a portion of what you all end up buying!! Wedding Rings::// These are usually the expense of both the Groom & Bride individually to give to each other. There is no reason at all why a really Good Wedding Ring for either Man or Woman,, bought from a Jeweller, should set either of you back any more than $150. each. … “Expensive Rings”, are a sign only, of the Buyer’s Stupidity, NOT Love!! ” His Tuxedo:: Generally,, Men only Rent a Tuxedo, unlike women who buy a wedding dress & keep it to be buried in. .. They can be expensive or cheap, but as my wedding was a Pagan Wedding,, I did not need a Tux, & we both did not wear shoes! Estimate,, about a third of the cost of your dress, IF you buy one. ……………….. Entertainment:: At Weddings,, The ‘Entertainment’ is watching the new Bride & Groom! You can have the usual sometimes dirty, & always embarresing “Telegrams” read out by the MC or Best Man. These days you might have to Substitute Telegrams with Emails. (Bluddy Technology.) … There are the usual “Speeches”, made by the Fathers,Best Man, Close Friends, & Finally by the Groom himself. … (& I froze when my turn came!) …….. Usually,, these “Speeches” are designed to embarress the newly wed couple, but not in a cruel or dirty way. (but I suppose it depends on how much people have had to drink?). I hope I have given you Some ideas & help.
