My parents are having their 40th wedding anniversary this December, I really wanted to have a party at my house and invite some family and friends, and have a nice party for them, with music, dancing, cake, etc. Now I’m realizing I don’t have a budget for this, as it is also the holiday season, and I just can’t do a party. I’m really sad because I wanted to do something nice for my parents, but can no longer plan this event. What would be a nice alternative to having a party? I want them to enjoy their day, I just feel terrible that we don’t have the ability to have a party.
I want to get them their own gifts, but I need ideas. Its 25 years and I want to get them something special. Please help!

We just had our first baby and it was a tough delivery and recuperation, but I’m happy to say that I am finally back to normal, besides those pesky 15lbs that don’t go away. Anyhow I want to do something fun and romantic with my husband for our 7th anniversary. We live on the east coast, not in florida so it’s fall right now. I don’t know what we can do, its always been just us two so we would hop on a plan and go to miami or something but now we can’t. Budget doesn’t permit us to travel like we used to and with baby it really is tough to do. So parents that are still romantically inclined, any ideas? THANKS!!

I want to start planning on my 15 yr wedding anniversary. We turn 11 yrs this next Dec and I want to give my wife a great present with a big celebration on our 15 yrs since on our 10 yr I was working as usual. I have been away from the house working for way too long so I want o make this very special(8 yrs in the military with various deployments and now work internationally in the oil field business). I want to make it real special and include my 3 daughters in the ceremony. I want to make the reception on new years eve since our anniversary is on Dec 30th. Also we live in TX but the reception will be in Puerto Rico so no problem with cold weather at all since we are born and raised over there. I will like to do something nice with at least 5K; something simple but really nice. Please help me out!!!!!!

Go redeem a gift certificate at the italian restaurant that catered our wedding reception
Visit a local winery
Open a bottle of wine we bought on our honeymoon last year and toast each other
I don’t have any money to buy him a expensive gift. The first year anniversary gift is paper. Would a nice card with a a handwritten poem in the card meet the traditional paper gift?

I’m trying to brainstorm some inexpensive gift ideas for my sister-in-law’s 25th wedding anniversary. I found a list of the Top 40 songs from the week of their wedding in 1986, and I was trying to come up with things I could put into 25’s, such as Hershey’s kisses/hugs. Any other ideas?
I know the traditional thing for the first year is paper but i wanted more ideas besides that. I really have no clue what to get him for our anniversary. i was thinking earrings since he has his ears pierced but i want something more meaningful to the day of our wedding.
Recently, I received an invitation to a potluck luncheon in celebration of a couple’s 50th wedding anniversary. Typically, a potluck lunch would be causal and would not require gifts. However, in the invitation, the children and grandchildren who were planning the luncheon listed gift ideas for their parents and grandparents respectively. I gave my own parents a 50th wedding anniversary party several years ago and I did not mention gifts at all. Everything I’ve found on the internet indicates that gifts are unnecessary and at the discretion of the attendees. I think this invitation was in very poor taste. What say you all?

I’ve seen the silver vase and the silver cufflinks. But I don’t think it’s that “ok”. (Sorry for my choosiness…)
And if you have any ideas, can you at least give a small description why the gift or symbol is what I should choose?
