Wedding Reception Tips for Brides on a Budget

Tagged Under : , , , ,

(ARA) – The reception is traditionally one of the most expensive aspects of a wedding. However, by combining personal creativity and ingenuity — the foundation of lifestylist Sandra Lee’s Semi-Homemade(R) philosophy — with inexpensive, ready-made items available at discount retailers, brides-to-be and cash-strapped parents can host a beautiful wedding reception without blowing through the entire bridal budget.

“Creating a beautiful wedding environment on a budget is simple,” says Sandra Lee, entertaining expert and author. “By putting a personal touch on everything from table centerpieces to wedding favors, brides and grooms can save while creating memories for years to come.”

While June is still the most popular month for weddings, according to a recent study by Hallmark.com, September and October are quickly gaining in popularity. Sandra Lee offers some great last-minute planning tips this fall for brides and grooms-to-be:

* If renting a reception tent, create a romantic environment by purchasing sheering fabric and 2-inch ribbon from a local discount retailer to drape around the canopy. Create billows of fabric and hang from the ceiling, wrap around poles, and swag in the entryway.

* Whether throwing an indoor or outdoor reception, flowers help set the tone but can quickly add up. A typical flower budget is 15 percent of the overall cost of a wedding. Consider using some of the beautiful and realistic-looking silk flowers available today intermingled with arrangements of fresh flowers to keep the romance high and the costs low. The bride and groom can use the silk flowers in the home for years to come.

* Every bride wants to do something unique at her wedding. Create a dramatic, sweet-smelling entrance for guests by lining a walkway to the reception venue or reception tent with fresh rose petals. Also consider renting a bubble machine, available at retailers such as Wal-Mart, for some added ambiance and fun.

* Renting both table settings and white linen tablecloths can get expensive. Instead, consider purchasing clear glass plates from a discount retailer. Stack the salad plate on top of the dinner plate and place a large leaf between the two for a very pretty place setting. Buying plates is often less expensive than renting and the bride and groom can keep them for the years (and dinner parties) ahead.

* Remember to keep centerpieces either low enough or high enough so guests can see each other from across the table. A simple cake pedestal adorned with sugared fruits and a candle makes a beautiful and an inexpensive centerpiece. Add to the sugary sparkle by placing candles in votive candle holders to illuminate the centerpieces from underneath. Remember to place approximately half an inch of water in each candle holder or glass for easy removal of melted wax.

* For more formal wedding receptions, assigning guests to tables is considered proper etiquette but that doesn’t mean it has to be stuffy. Purchase large sugar cookies and pipe romantic words like “joy,” “hope,” “love,” and “forever” on each cookie. Place one cookie in each centerpiece to replace traditional numbered tables and have your place cards direct your guests to these romantically identified tables.

* Wedding favors that double as place cards can be made by purchasing sugar cookies from a local bakery that are iced in white. Pipe each guest’s names on the cookies in colored icing a day or two before the wedding. Place in cellophane bags, tied with a ribbon, and set at each guest’s place setting so guests know where to sit.

* Handmade keepsakes given out during the wedding reception are an easy and thoughtful way to thank the wedding party. Create beautiful, unique cards for the bridesmaids by purchasing simple white note cards, decorated with the wedding’s theme colors embellished with different fabrics or small trinkets purchased from a craft department. Write a cherished memory or personal note inside the card, which bridesmaids can keep for the years to come.

* And don’t forget the wedding cake, which can be very expensive, depending on the number of guests attending. Consider purchasing a decorated sheet cake from a local bakery in addition to a smaller tiered cake. Then marry them together as one elaborate cake with piping and rose petals. Brides and grooms may find that bakeries like those at a Wal-Mart Supercenter can make unique and cost-conscious tiered wedding cakes that are beautiful as well as delicious. Remember, all cakes are created equal — flour, sugar, and butter — so there’s no need to spend a fortune on one.

How One Bride’s Wedding Plans Took Shape Plus Her Notes of Their Great Wedding Day

Tagged Under : , , , , , , , ,

Marriage is between a man and a woman, period. Wedding , relations, and anything of that nature has always struck me as something holy, something special, something that I would wish to remember for the rest of my life.

Wedding Planning

Get that right and the rest follows. I like the wedding dress to be traditional, as that brings me back to the commitment aspect of a wedding. The best veil colours sometimes include white, diamond white, and ivory. I’m not non secular, but my favourite set of footage all of my life have been those of my parents’ wedding in their church.

This was true, as we shortly started a family and continued to grow up with our kids. And, so it has been.

Only 1 shoe. Goodness knows where the other one had gone! It was so dainty yet elegant and I set out to get a copy made for me to wear on my wedding day. From then on the shoe had a life of its own and it began to dictate my color palette, center-piece design, linen choice, and the direction I needed to go with my gown.

That shoe just got my creative juices flowing somehow, and it was the thought of my Gran, and her cherished shoe which she had not discussed before, but had kept so many years since. I’m sure description of her outline of her wedding that sent my senses tingling, and my mind reeling, with so many exciting wedding thoughts.

Steve asserted that guests numbering between 50-75 would be cool. Almost all gifts will be gifts will be gifts which will be useful to us as a couple all our married life. But, I found that accepting the gifts was no easy matter. I should not have worried, but I did at the time. How could these folk be so generous for me? I had so much already to be grateful for.

Those wedding shoes of my Gran’s were closed-toe, kitten heeled, blue leather. Not only were these the ideal wedding shoes for me, but they might looked hot with 2 jeans later! At the time naturally I didn’t know if the shoes would basically match my dress. I ordered them to be made on a hunch. Essentially, I could not bear to hold them up next to the dress and open my eyes when they arrived. I didn’t need them to match exactly, but they might need to coordinate.

I’m hoping that as you are reading this you are feeling the same much too.

I hope your experience will be anywhere near as good as mine.

Partying’s great, drinking’s great, too, but what I would have liked to have, as a Christian getting wed, was a heavy commitment, and I believe the best weddings still keep an amount of respect for that.

It occurred that way for us, but we stumbled upon wedding and our wedding plans, we were and still are committed, but when we made the choice there had been tiny time for planning – we just could not wait.

Finally, I realized that I was ready for a commitment. There wasn’t any stopping either of us then. So, we got started with our detailed wedding pans.

All of a sudden I had been thinking about haircuts, because I went to get my hair cut that weekend and asked my stylist in passing whether the salon does wedding hair. She claimed yes, all the stylists there do, and began to play with my hair to give me some ideas for what to do with mine. At the time I claimed to myself ; “I must be mad, why did I ask that?”

A Great Wedding Day

Our day turned out great for us, and our guests declared it absolutely was a great success for them too.

I was in a panic when I awoke that day.

Thanks go to all, but Jim especially who performed the speeches so very well for us, and I believed that ours was the ideal disco host accepting all requests.

My wedding day went precisely to our wedding plans, I do not believe could have been better than it was. I married a person, my opinion is that I am able to spend perpetuity with. But when we both asserted our vows I felt like we were paying each other the biggest compliment ever by promising paying one another the rest of our lives. I voiced this to Steve again yesterday and he revealed I told this piece of my life with me, and may your wedding plans also become real like this.

.

Steve Evans says that he married 28 years ago now and has no regrets. You probably guessed that these events occurred quite a time ago from the reference to Al Green! Steve has an enduring love of weddings. Click and see his web site, which is all about Organising a Wedding to arrange your wedding ideas.

Wedding Plans – 7 Ways Summer Brides Can Save Money and Still Look Beautiful

Tagged Under : , , , , , , , , ,

Wedding plans – What is the difference between a summer bride and that of the woman who weds in autumn spring or winter? Aside from weather conditions none whatsoever. If we talk in monetary units, then weddings can differ greatly regardless of whether the sun shines. Wedding plans will nearly always consist of traditional items like the wedding gown, wedding cake, wedding flowers, flower girls etc. Wedding necessities as such leave no room for originality because most future brides will have a list like this too.

All four seasons create beautiful brides; however you have to plan accordingly so it stays that way. Summer brides will forever blossom as long their wedding plans cater for sweat stains appearing under the arms or the fringe sticking to the forehead. Not all June July brides are fortunate enough to have the sun beaming down on the day hence the importance of planning for this. Weddings incur major expense which is sad because every woman wants it to be special but special comes at a price. Special weddings come with a difference; if you decide to ignore tradition then your summer wedding will be remembered not only by you but for all in attendance on the day

Let us look at some options to help reduce cost

1 The bridal cosmetic content will have to be prioritized in the wedding plans. Sun protection is important. Photo shoots in the midday sun is a major health risk if the skin is not protected. Running mascara and melting lip gloss will not have the bride looking her best. Check for beauty products that can withstand climate changes. Some women tend to overlook the seriousness (not intentionally) of the suns harmful UV rays due to being busy with other matters.

2 Its quick its cheap its easy to send wedding invites via email, invitations can be prettied up with font change, colours and clip art. You have more chance of receiving a reply using this method.

3 A sit down meal is more expensive than a running buffet. Your guest likes to have the option to eat when he/she feels like in contrast to that of being prompted to eat at a specific time. Open garden parties at this time of year are very popular. Have a marquee on standby. Download music from the internet for the wedding venue, this will save money.

4 Does the wedding gown have to include layer after layer of satin, you can save money with less material. Also encrustation of pearls/ sequins can up the price. Buy your own pearl necklace/ earrings, this will save a considerable amount of cash and you can always wear them for other occasions. However if the dress of your dreams consist of gems then you can remove them at a later date and make use of them in many ways.

5 Save more money by wearing a plain off the shoulder figure hugging dress, ankle or knee length. A lace, fur (imitation) shoulder wrap/ shawl will set the dress off as well as give you protection from the sun or the rain if the weather goes against you. If you carry a little weight then have the dress not so tight.

6 Wedding flowers do not come cheap so why not grow from seed your own summer flowers for button holes and wedding bouquet. This is unique and will give you something to talk about or pass onto your kids when they marry. If your choice of wedding gown is short then a small hand held posy is ideal, if longer then carry long stemmed fresh blooms, after use place in a vase on the reception table. Have your flowers dried out and treated, add to wedding memorabilia scrapbook. Consider carrying a clutch bag. Bags and shoes can be decorated with finery to match whatever accessories you have hanging around your neck or on your head. Pearls can be worn long short to suit the style of dress.

7 Another expensive item is head wear. Have a dummy run and make your own; a hair band is easy and ideal for decorating. Why else have we the option to buy loose gems and glue? Remove a shoulder pad from an old item of clothing and cover with material of your dress. Add a little scrunched up lace and tack it to the pad. Sequins or pearls glued and shaped like teardrops can be tacked or glued to pad. The pad can be secured with pins onto the top/side or back of the head. A good imagination will have you see what I mean. If you cannot visualize fret not, the outcome will result in either a breathtaking awesome way or damn it way, if this be the latter then a beret or skull cap can be purchased for this purpose.

All those pennies saved can be put to a better cause like paying the gas bill, electric, water rates, telephone, council tax, food bill, car insurance, I could go on and on the list is endless. It makes sense to not overspend on wedding essentials that only last a day when you have a lifetime of the above.
