What Are Some Good Luxury Honeymoon Destinations On A Budget?

Tagged Under : , , , , , ,

My fiance and I are getting married in September. We are paying for the wedding ourselves and it will completely clean us out. We’re planning on asking for our honeymoon as wedding presents from this site called honeyfund.com, but we don’t know ahead of time how much our family members will be willing to give us. We could use some ideas for destinations which will make us feel special without breaking the bank.
I would like:
-Old world feel of Europe, (castles, quaint villages, etc.) but we can’t afford the air-fair
-I’m not a beach person, I burn wearing 100spf sunscreen, I would prefer mountains
-Spa treatments
-Adventures like horseback riding, and ATV tours
-I want to feel important, I would prefer to be princess for a weekend than peon for a week
He would like:
-Boats, boats, and more boats! He loves sailing
-Action like parasailing, snuba [different from scuba], and jetskiis
-Colonial, Pirate-y feel, like the Bahamas
We can’t afford air-fair to europe, and we want to go somewhere new, so Colonial Williamsburg, Gettysburg, Baltimore, and Quebec are all no longer options.
So what do you think?

Hosting A Low Budget Wedding?

Tagged Under : , ,

I would like some tips on hosting a low budget wedding. I don’t want to spend a fortune on ONE DAY, but I don’t want it to seem cheap either. So here’s some info about what the plan is so far:
~Ceremony at the church we are members to, with about 200 people attending (he has A LOT of family), mid morning
~Reception of 50-75 people at the local park (here are some links to some of my pics I have taken of the park before: https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=…https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=…https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=…https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=… ) There are also “shelter” areas at the park with picnik tables, a covering (not a gazebo but not a tent) and everything, though I am not sure the cost for renting them.
~The reception will be a late luncheon (maybe around 1 or 2 pm to start), so no alcohol. And my father has offered to cook.
~I have found some low-cost wedding gowns, but have yet to pick one yet.
~We will have a friend of the family do the main photos, then we plan on collecting photos from the guests, too.
Other than that, I’m a crafty person and have already looked up some ideas like making my own veil, so diy suggestions are good, too.Any questions, just ask and I’ll try to answer them.
**I will not accept or appreciate rude, useless, or biased answers. If you are here to be rude, take it somewhere else** Thank you all in advance!

Rehearsal Dinner On A Budget — Ideas?

Tagged Under : , , ,

I’d decided to have our rehearsal dinner at a local Mexican restaurant. We have 6 people in our wedding party, not including us, and we’re paying for everything ourselves. Since our parents aren’t paying, I wasn’t planning on including them…just because we’re on a tight budget. But now I’m wondering if that was a bad idea.
1.) My dad will be walking me down the aisle, which makes him part of the wedding. Shouldn’t he be included in the rehearsal dinner? If so, I’d have to invite my mom (of course) and my fiance’s parents as well. If we do that, we’ll have to invite his little sister because she lives with them, plus my neice, who lives with my parents. That’s just too many people for us to pay for at a restaurant.
2.) Gifts. I’m spending about $140 on gifts for my three girls (personalized make up bags and personalized compact mirrors) and his three guys (personalized shot glasses and pocket knives) as well as our flower girl (jewelry box). Do I have to buy gifts for our parents too? It would seem weird if they were there and didn’t get their gifts.
3.) We don’t have a house big enough for all of those people to come and eat. I was thinking spaghetti, garlic bread, and wine. It sounds nice, but we live in a mobile home and can’t use anyone else’s house for it. What other ideas are there?
4.) Even if we just did the 14 people at the Mexican restaurant, I was planning on $200…but that’s if no one gets alcohol. If they do, we’re screwed.
BQ: Favors. I’m not really getting them, but I’m buying little cute vials of bubbles them to blow as we leave and they can keep the vial. Is that good enough?

Wedding Budget Of $2000, Any Tips?

Tagged Under : , , ,

My fiance and I have decided to have an inexpensive wedding and set our budget at $2000. We’ve figured out some ways to cut cost, but any additional ideas would be great! We are…
Getting married and having our reception at a state park ($200)
Buying an inexpensive dress
Not hiring a professional photographer (asking friends/family)
Assembling my own flowers (buying bulk flowers from a friend with a flower farm)
Family friend is making the cake
We would love any ideas on what to do about food as we don’t want to cook for everyone (about 80 guests). Ideas?

Wedding Photographer – How Much Should I Budget?

Tagged Under : , , , ,

Ok soooo…I’m getting married in September next year, and the next thing on my to-do list is to book a photographer!
We’re not after an album as we would like to create our own, but we would like a DVD with all images taken on the day in high-resolution print-ready format. It would be from me getting ready up until just after the first dance that we require a photographer, so say 8/9 hours ish. If at all possible, 2 photographers would be great!
So my question is…how much should I be looking at spending for this?? I’ve got quotes already but they seem quite expensive, so I thought I’d ask on here to get a better idea.
