100 People To Much For A Cake And Champagne Wedding?

Tagged Under : , , , ,

so im getting married we have about 100 people coming. we really didn’t want to have a huge drawn out wedding because both of us have been to those and have been bored as anything. we also like cake and ive always imagined a huge cake with like five tiers rather than a formal sitdown diner.
i was just wondering is 100 people to much.
also seating ideas? anyone,im still a little stuck.
i don’t think having a traditional setting or having as many chairs as people are a good thing,it will make people think there’s food coming when there is int.
and dont worry im putting it on the invitation so people know

Teacup Or Cake Plate As Wedding Favor?

Tagged Under : , , , ,

We were thinking of collecting tea cups or cake plates for each of our guests so each guest would have a different one and they could take it home as their favor. I like the tea cup best, and then perhaps putting their name card in it. My fiance likes the plates best but I told him they’d have to be washed and it would perhaps take too long. Do you think this is a good favor for our guests?

Wedding Cake Flavor…?

Tagged Under : , ,

I am having my wedding on August 4th, 2012 and since the wedding is less than a year away now its time to start planning! One of my bridesmaids is going to help coordinate the wedding (we chose not hire a wedding planner) and is also making the cake for us, as she is going to culinary school specializing in baking and is taking online classes for wedding planning.
For our cake we are wanting a simple 3 tiered round cake. White icing with a thick purple ribbon at the base of each layer and a thinner orange ribbon at the top of the layers of cake. However, I am having troubles with the flavor of cake. My fiances favorite kind of cake is simple yellow cake mix, while I love red velvet and strawberry cake. We aren’t very familiar with many different flavors of cake (or icing) so any suggestions would be amazing!
Also, many people do cupcakes for their wedding but is that really necessary? I don’t want to overload Nichole with making cupcakes and the wedding cake and with the duties of being a bridesmaid and helping plan/coordinate the wedding. Not to mention I’m not a huge cake person. Are there any other suggestions of desserts that could be made/bought instead of cupcakes?

How Do I Use A Silicone Rose Cake Mold To Make An “ice Ring” For My Punch?

Tagged Under : , , , , , , ,

I bought a silicone cake mold shaped like a rose, thinking that I could fill it will juice, freeze it, and then stick it in the punch at my wedding. However, when I decided to experiment and make sure it worked, the ice just flipped over so you can’t see the rose. it just looks like a floating circle of ice. Any ideas on how to make it float upright?

Spiced Orange Wedding Cake Filling?

Hey
So, this is just an idea for my dream wedding cake, I’m not actually getting married or anything.
So what do you think of a plain sponge cake (4/5 tiers) with a Spiced Orange filling?
My Dream wedding would be in October, my favourite month in my favourite season, Autumn. So it having a kick of spice would fit.
But what spices are cake-friendly and go with orange? I know cinnamon but that’s about it… Lol

I am planning on getting married next year, me and my fiance have been having a small problem finding a bride and groom cake topper that looks like us, usually everyone we see is dark haired or blonde haired and every groom has short hair. My groom has long hair and a goatee, I have red hair. Does anyone know a website that has more custom brides and groom cake toppers or maybe suggestions for a DIY?

Cake Baking/decorating As A Hobby?

Tagged Under : , ,

I got off school for Summer break about 3 weeks ago, and I don’t have any hobbies,or anything to keep me busy, and I was watching Cupcake Wars/Cake Boss a lot lately and I thought it might be fun to try baking/decorating cakes might be fun to try,but I really don’t know how to start. 1.) what equipment should buy to start out with? 2.) what kind of flavors should I buy to experiment with to start? 3.) what kind of icings are easiest to work with? 4.) whats a good cookbook/website that has good ideas for beginners? My grandmother used to bake/decorate wedding cakes for a living for about 30 years and I think I could learn a lot from her. 10pts to the best answer.

Tagged Under : , , , , , , , ,

I have offered to make a tray bake for my brother’s school street party to celebrate the Royal Wedding. Unfortunately, I’m not entirely sure how I can do this creatively and simply, for 30 children!
I have a few ideas, but they’re not very creative, so any additional ideas would be fantastic!
Thanks in advance!! xxx

Decoration Ideas For Royal Wedding Cake?

Tagged Under : , , , ,

My parent’s street are having a party for the royal wedding on the 29th April (any excuse for a party that lot!) I have said that I will make a cake for it as I love baking, however I have no idea what to do for decoration. I was thinking about two figures for it, but that’s all I can think of. Does anyone have any different ideas? It will probably be a sponge cake or something similar, not fruit as a couple of the people are allergic to some stuff in fruit cakes.
Thanks!
