If there is, how much? I am planning a wedding in Bangkok, Thailand, but we have no idea if there’s a customary church fee or we just need to voluntarily “offer” to the church.

Wedding And Reception At Church, But Private Reception?
Tagged Under : Church, Private, Reception, wedding
my fiance and i are trying to plan a small wedding and reception at our church. We plan on inviting 120 people to the wedding, and simply cannot afford to have a formal reception for all guests. We want to have the reception in the banquet hall at church, for financial reasons, but we are unsure if it would be rude to have a private reception in the same facilities as the wedding. We are considering having an outdoor reception of finger foods and punch outside immediately after the ceremony and having the bouquet toss then, but then having a family only reception after that inside the banquet hall with the first dance and a nice meal. Would this be rude or offensive? My fiance really wants the private reception and the first dance, but we also want to be polite as possible to all our friends and non-family members who will be attending the wedding.
What To Wear To A Penecostal Church?

I’m going to a wedding at a Penecostal church. I was planning on wearing a dress that goes just approve my knees with leggings and boots. My mom brought up the fact that leggings may be considered pants. Would it be okay to wear this?
Does anyone know of a old quaint Church or Chapel from around the Regency Era in England that is still standing and functional, It is apart of my dream wedding. I would just like to get a few ideas of what kind of churches are still around. I’m not too fused on the whole it has to be a Catholic or Cristian or Anglican Church I would just like a lovely small Church or Chapel.
Thank you for your help.
Me and my man have been together for 15 years and have 4 children together. We are (finally) going to get married in June. We don’t want a ‘big’ do, i don’t want to wear a wedding dress, spend thousands on the day, neither does he. We both feel that that money could go towards our house, and our childrens future. We are not into the whole big white wedding thing. We just plan to have our children, parents, and family members present. So we were thinking of just having a simple registry office wedding then go for a family meal. And we are going to take the children away on holiday for a week 2 days later.
Anyway we are both Catholics, although we don’t go to church very often, only when occasions are on like communions confirmations ect. Although we do still consider ourselves catholics and thats the way we were brought up. I believe anyway that a person doesn’t have to go to mass to believe it God! So my dilemma is do we go ahead and have the non religious ceremony or have a church wedding. The problem with church wedding is we don’t want the whole big fuss, no flowers, no fancy attire, no music, prayers being said ect. Would a priest still marry us in a church without the big long fancy ceremony. Like would a priest do a short wedding just at the altar or in the back room of the church without the whole ceremony thing?????? What do you guys think?
Is A Donation To A Church An Appropriate Wedding Favor?
Tagged Under : Appropriate, Church, Donation, Favor, wedding
This isn’t necessarily a question about religion, but I’m asking this in the religion section mostly because I want the opinion of other athiests / agnostics / skeptics.
I recently went to a friend’s wedding. He and his new wife are very religious, had the ceremony in a church, fine, whatever. Their day, their choice, I’ll still go and support them and wish them well. Nobody is making me pray or anything.
However, at the reception, I sat down at my table to find my “wedding favor.” Now for those who haven’t been to many weddings, this is normally a box of chocolates or a candle or some goofy crap like that. However, the favor at this wedding was a donation made to a church *in my name.*
Now, I realize that a favor is exactly that – they are doing me a favor and I shouldn’t EXPECT a gift or anything. However, I am completely opposed to any and all organized religion and, even though it’s not my money, I don’t want my name attached to a dollar amount that is going towards advancing any organized religion.
Do I just let this go? Is it totally inappropriate to say something? May I contact the church and ask that my name be removed from the donation? I don’t know what to do. It kind of pisses me off – I really would rather have gotten no favor at all than have gotten this.
My fiance and I are considering having our wedding reception at the Church where the ceremony will take place. This will save us a great amount of money. I’m thinking of having a slide show play with pictures, cutting the cake, speeches, but I don’t really know what else to have. I know the guests probably won’t stay as long because it’s not the “typical” reception, but oh well. Any ideas of what else we could have? Thanks in advance!
I am getting married in a small town where I live about 45 minutes away from a city. The only church out here is a super strick catholic one and I don’t really want to get married there seeing as i am not catholic. Not not mention I don’t want a full mass with communion and everything else I wont get to participate in.
I was at a wedding a couple weeks back where this couple had a guy marry them outside. He made no biblical refrences at all. It was really short, sweet and special. I’d like to do something like that.
So who do I look up in the phone book or online? Justice of the peace? Please help! Any ideas would be apreciated.
Actually I was talking with the lord with it a couple of days ago, because I do not like any church I attend and maybe the Lord will create a new church, How The way sounds Like a good name for a church. Then in church today, it talked about how people in the book of acts, when paul was out killing the christians, how he hunted for people who called themselves the way or people of the way.
Kinda thought that was cool. Maybe the first church God created was called the way, if the bible was calling his bride the way to start with…??? Children of the way….well I guess that is in the lords hands.
