Art College Portfolio?
Tagged Under : college, Portfolio
I am absolutely freaking out because tomorrow is the day I photograph my portfolio for college submission, in order to make the deadlines. The two art schools I am applying to are Mass Art in Boston and the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston. I am also submitting a portfolio to UMass Amherst, to get into their art program. I am trying to make last minute adjustments to everything and I am so worried. Can someone give me some feedback on the description list provided? Thanks!
1. Prisma colored pencil still life of fruit
2. Pencil drawing of my sister covering her face with her hands, with the lyrics to MGMT’s song “Kids” scrawled in the background
3. Pencil drawing of a woman, a teenager, and a little girl blowing on a dandelion
4. Pencil drawing of a camera taking a picture of a ceiling, with a picture of clouds on the viewing screen
5. A self portrait in unnatural colors in acrylic paint
6. A picture of two flowers from my yard in oil pastel, mixed with turpentine. the background is completely green with leaves scratched into the oil pastel.
7. A small self portrait, abstractly done, made out of newspaper
8. A piece based on song lyrics, of a girl on a train looking out to LA, in chalk pastel
9. Two small paintings: one of candy, and one of party favors, in acrylic paint to show observational skills
10. Glass earrings
11. Pencil drawing of my sneaker getting caught in bike spokes (note: I am mentioning in my description list that this was not intended for RISD submission, because it is not)
12. Texture study/ rubbings in sketchbook
13. Collage of city photographs (I am getting them lab developed now, and piecing them together tonight)
14. Work in progress: oil painting of myself sitting on a cloud
15. Work in progress: still life of wedding objects
So as you can see, right now I have the bare minimum and two of them are works in progress. I have other pieces, but they definitely don’t display my best skills. So any feedback would be appreciated or even any ideas of last minute sketches/studies I could do today. Thanks!
I want to be an event planner..or something along those lines. I’m a freshman in college right now getting my general AA. I really feel like I’m wasting my time in school because I know event planners don’t even really need a degree. Is there a school that focuses mostly on majors in hospitality that YOU went to? What degree do you have, did you travel, do internships..did it land you a nice job… all that good stuff. I would love to hear about your advice and experiences!!
THANK YOU.
Questions About College?

My whole life i’ve been involved with singing, i’ve been in every choir I could possibly join, gotten lots of solo’s, been in musicals, but now that it’s come time to go to college i’m absolutely clueless as to what I should do. Of course i’d love to go for vocal, but how far will I get going that route? Will there be good job opportunities? Also, i’m interested in becoming an independent wedding planner as well, so how will that work in terms of college if I wan’t to do both? Thanks so much.
Ideas Or Opinions For College Majors?
Tagged Under : college, Ideas, Majors, Opinions
Im in my first year of college, and my mind is racing with ideas for majors that will last me for the rest of my life. Ive always wanted to be a wedding planner. Im obsessed with weddings. But Im afraid thats just a hobby of mine. Ive considered nursing, if that was the last thing on the face of the earth!! I decided on criminal justice… but then really found a interest for religious studies! I know I want to either minor or have that as a second major for myself. Ive looked at social work? I have seen too many people unhappy with their jobs and their lives because of it. At this point, I just want to be happy and do something I enjoy. Has anyone gone to college and majored in something they love? Just give me any kinds of majors and their descriptions. I just need a better outlook for whats out there. please please please!! thanks!!!!!
Or do Ben and his bride have an open relationship, where she can say have a fling with Hines Ward while Ben goes trolling for drunk college skank tail?
I want to go to Standford so what should I major in to help me become a wedding planner?
You don’t need to go to college to become one. You might consider taking some event management classes though.

Im 17 years old and i’m getting my GED very soon. After I have my GED i’m looking to attend an online college to be an Event Coordinator, ultimately to be a Wedding Planner. I chose to attend an online college do to my circumstance. When I turn 18 I will be moving around a lot and might not be able to drive to a community college everyday. If anyone has done this or has experienced online colleges i’d like to hear what you enjoyed or disliked about them. Also if you have any advice for me i’d love to hear what you have to say. Especially if you have your certification in Event Coordination or Wedding Planning. I saw this one online school that really caught my eye. If you’re interested in checking it out and you have the time, here’s the link http://www.qceventplanning.com/brochure.php?source=ADWORDS_EP_US&gclid=CMbg39v02KkCFQp75QodqimGPw If you can help at all i’d appreciate it, thankyou!

ive heard about the disney college program that college students can take in Florida or California. I’m really interested but I don’t know if its worth it. I’ve researched it and all, they’re not even accepting applications though from anyone other than culinary and baker majors and whatnot so I still have time to decide. but has anyone ever done it? can you tell me about it? I want to get into the wedding planning business. (:
