Other Entertainment Besides A Dj?

Tagged Under : , ,

We are not having a DJ at our wedding. We are not big dancers and we really do not want to spend the money on something we will not be taking full advantage of. With that said here our some ideas we have for entertainment.
To start the night we will have a friend of our announce us. Then at each table we are going to have “our version” of a guest book, each person will have a page at their seat and they will fill it out. It will have like “how did you meet the bride/groom?” “Your favorite memory..” etc, then, after each person is seated and finished filling that out we are going to have a trivia game all about my FH and I, and the first table to answer all the question (there will b about 10) will get to eat first. I figure this is an ice breaker as well as everyone wants to be the first to eat so they will participate.
We want to also hire a story teller to tell us a scary story while we eat (our wedding is Oct 27th). After everyone is done eating we have a photo booth set up, (oh our wedding will be at an art gallery so the guest can wonder around and look at the art as well).
We only want to dance to one song and it is also a game. We will be dancing to “Still the One” by Shania Twain and we will have a friend ask all the couples to join us on the dance floor, then about 15 sec into the song the friend will pause the song and ask any couples who have been together less that 5 years to please be seated and then start the song up again, and it will continue on like that every 10 sec until there is one couple left with us and then we will ask them for marriage advice.
We r also planning on hiring a fourtune teller, and we are also going to play the newlywed game (most of the guest attending are married). Plus the dessert table and the bar will be open.
We will have an ipod playing just for background noise. Does anyone have any other suggestion or do you think that if timed right this should be enough to keep my guest entertained? Any other suggestions would be great.. Oh and please no answers that state.. Get a DJ bc that is outta the question..

Wedding Entertainment?!? Help?

Tagged Under : , ,

We are stuck with what to do at our wedding other than feed people and have them talk! Basically we are having a civil ceremony in a hotel which starts at 1pm. After the ceremony its drinks in the seating area then onto the wedding breakfast which we estimate will finish around 3.30pm. The evening reception won’t be starting until 5pm… what do we do with guests between 3.30pm and 5pm? They will be heading back into the seating area for teas and coffees… but it just seems like its all talking and eating! We have hired a pianist and grand piano in the seating area, but any other ideas anyone? It is a vintage themed wedding if this helps any! Thanks in advance!

Tagged Under : , , , , , , ,

I am planning my wedding for August of this year and was wondering if it is necessary to have entertainment for cocktail hour. Is that the norm? If so what kind? Cocktail hour is outside on patio reception is inside, so the DJ will already be set up inside. I definitely don’t the DJ to have to tear down and set up again especially in front of guests so I will have to hire all new entertainment. HELP!
