My fiance and I have been in the visa process since last June. We have a lawyer, yes. She has never taken more than a year for a client to receive a visa – that is why we hired her.
We have done everything they asked up to this point. There were a few delays and miscommunications, but all is set for the interview. Now, he just had to pay for the interview at the bank, call the Embassy with the receipt number, get an interview date and then walk in for his Medical Exam.
The problem is, he paid for the Interview and called the Embassy. They told him that the girl at the bank had filed it under the wrong visa type, he still owed a few dollars and he had to go back to the bank. He did this.
He called the Embassy again and they said they received all the payment and the paperwork was right, but they have to escalate his case because their computer wouldn’t let them give him an interview date. They said, we will contact you within 3 days.
This was 3 weeks ago. He waited 4 days and called again. They said to wait 3 more days. He waited 4 days and called. Same thing. Then we waited 11 days before I called.
They told me that they cannot give him an interview date and not to call again. They were sending his paperwork to the AAD, and they would contact us.
Well, the lawyer says she has never heard this problem before and we don’t know what the AAD is. It seems like some kind of higher department at the Embassy.
I am trying to be a calm bride, but am freaking out a little. Its been a month, and our wedding date is in 8 weeks. We were assured that He would be here by September.
My questions are: should I seriously not call the Embassy? should I not send out our wedding invites? maybe cancel the wedding date just in case (we already cancelled our June 2nd wedding for this later date)? What do you think is stopping them from giving us an interview date – all they have to do is sign him up for one of the open dates, right?

pps- I know, this is borderline whining and I sound freaked out, but its wedding energy mixed with panic that he won’t be allowed to marry me.
