I’m 34, currently working as a production planner, and have been for the last 9 years, and sick of sitting in an office.
As mentioned, I cant decide between the two careers. The wedding photography would be a career I would slowly get into over the next 3-4 years doing along side my current job, where as hgv driving, got my class C, just need to get C+E to drive artics.
It has always been an ambition of mine to drive lorries since the age of 13, but never thought about pursuing it until now. I love driving and as i have a quiet personality, don’t mind the fact it’s a pretty lonely job.
As for photography, being doing this as a hobby since I was 16, got into photoshop about 10 years ago, and have learnt the basics of Lightroom over the last couple of months. The only thing that makes me question if I would be successful as a wedding photographer, is the fact I am pretty quiet around new people, so not sure if photography is the best career to pursue.
I understand lorry driving involves long hours, and its difficult to get into without the two year experience, but where I live in Lincolnshire, there is plenty of haulage companies, so I’m pretty sure I could find somebody who would give me a try.
Making A Living Off Of Photography?

Whenever i talk to people about what profession i would like to do once out of college I always think Photographer but i don’t say that, to many people shut my idea down and stuff. So i got curious, can you make a living off of being a photographer? Here is what i do and where i will be:
Locations:
Boston, MA.
Miami, FL
possibly LA? (another words, a major city)
What i shoot:
Weddings
Horses & riders (this includes horse shows which can be a 4 day event)
Motocross races (also can be a 2-4 day event)
Senior pictures
and random things.
What do you think? How much do you charge on average for a wedding?
Wedding Photography Tips?
Tagged Under : photography., Tips, wedding
I’m shooting a wedding in several months of 2 young people. Both are very sweet but very naive people. They are asking for a very traditional, almost old fashioned way of taking pictures…with little to no touching in the pictures. Can somebody direct me to a place that would have ideas? Or does anybody have any ideas for this sort of thing? Photography is more of a hobby of mine and not professional by any means. But to take Wedding pictures without the couple touching is a rather foreign concept to me. Please help!
Any Ideas For A Photography Business Name?
Tagged Under : business, Ideas, name, photography.
I’m stuck on a general idea. I want something different and unique and nothing ordinary, which is beyond difficult. I was just going to have my name but…thats boring. I’m an outdoor senior/wedding photographer. Help me please?
I’m going to school in January for photography. Im planning on becoming a wedding photographer at the end of the program.
I have been doing a lot of research on cameras and I have narrowed it down to three choices. I am considering the Canon Rebel T3i, the Nikon D5100 and the D7000.
Any suggestions on which camera would be best to start my career with.
What Lens Should I Use For Wedding Photography? (nikon D3100)?

I have a Nikon D3100 and would like to get my feet wet in wedding photography (I would be doing this aside from a main photographer to gain experience…wouldn’t want to ruin their wedding day). I would like to know which lens I could purchase in order to do future group work/events/weddings. I plan on purchasing a 17-55mm f/2.8 but it is out of my price range for now. I have a budget of $650, and my current lenses include:
Nikon 18-55mm kit lens
Nikon 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6G ED IF AF-S VR
Nikon 35mm f/1.8G AF-S
Nikon 50mm f/1.8G AF-S
Thanks
About Wedding Photography.?

Hi. I would like to help to shoot my friend’s wedding and maybe compiling an album for them. And i do not expect them to hire me or pay me. I just want to gain some experience in wedding photography and i figured that would be the best option. They probably will hire their own proper wedding photographers. The question i want to ask is that are there any photography etiquettes involved? Do I have to liase with the main photographer? Do i have to explain to the team of photographers that I’m just doing my friend a favour? Will they find my presence a nuisence? I know basic rules like not following the main photographer around, shooting what he shoots etc. Thanks in advance!
Good (budget) Lenses For Wedding Photography?
Tagged Under : Budget, good, Lenses, photography., wedding
Okay, so I’m buying the Canon 60D and I am trying to keep my preliminary budget under 1500 dollars. So I will probably get the 60D kit (with the 18-135 kit lens kit) unless anyone has a better idea (for the body only its around $1000. After that I will slowly acquire better lenses. So I guess my question is- Once I get my camera and first lens (feel free to make suggestions on that too), what lenses and in what order should I get them? I enjoy portrait photography and also outdoor photography, but I’m mainly looking to beef up my gear so that I can get into budget wedding photography. Any advice is greatly appreciated!!!
