I’m currently in my sophomore year of undergrad studies in business management and I think I want to focus on weddings. How can I get a start in the industry right now? Should I start getting acquaintances to let me plan their weddings or is that too much? Do planners have or usually need interns? How much do planners typically make? Any answers or site references would be great!
My friend and I are fighting over who will be our other friends wedding planner in the future c: So, I need some help with the details:
-Where should it be located? (be very specific, address and everything)
-Where to look for dresses for Bride and bridesmaids
-Invitations
-Cake
And whatever else I forgot to mention. Please help, I have to present it to the “Future Bride” by the end of winter break so she can decide who’s ideas she likes better!
so i have everything thought out except color theme.. i want to incorporate the colors chocolate brown and gold but i need a third accent color. i don’t mind orange, but what other color can i have with chocolate and gold? please don’t say turquoise i hate that combo… everyone is doing that. i need something that will wow! something sex & the city, cosmo-chic inspired, elegant but very fun and light hearted. keep in mind it’s a Fall Wedding [September/October]. Thanks !!

I am planning a wedding on a budget near Chicago, Il (About 40 minutes south) and wanted your opinions on venues, cake bakers, photographers, etc. I would like to stay around 5,000 dollars. Any advice, tips, ideas??
Such as ring dress honeymoon etc
I know its my day, but I also want my mom to be happy too. She will be happy either way, but I KNOW she wants me to have a big wedding – meaning all the family and friends are there, but here are some issues…
1. We are paying for it ourself, with some help from my parents and his parents.
2. We know times are tough, and don’t want our parents to feel “obligated” even though they would love four us to have the “perfect” day.
3. If we choose to have a “big” wedding, we have 8 attendants each, 4 ushers, 3 personal attendants, 4 hosts, 2 singers, 2 scripture readers…see now I have a headache.
4. My mom’s list of guests is already to 100…not including my friends, or his family…but she wants to keep it under 200….
big family.
5. Him and I really are fine with our immediate family and a couple close friends standing up for us at a northern resort – and then having a party at a later date to celebrate our marriage – because I know our families would want to congratulate us.
6. Our families are some what traditional when it comes to weddings, but I just really really really don’t want the whole hooooopla.
How do you think I should go about this with my parents and his? I know my mom has always dreamed of my BIG DAY, haha I just don’t want to crush her dreams – but I know that the wedding she would be able to help provide would not be exactly what I wanted and I would end up cutting corners etc….
Our big day was also put on hold as of last year due to an unforseen issue …so im kind of played out too and just really want a peaceful fun evening.
What should I do?
