I just started running again today. I ran/walked 3 miles down a looooong stretch of road next to my airport here in honolulu. If I run every other day (mon, wed, fri and off weekends) for 3 miles, when should i start noticing my weight dropping? If any of you are experienced runners/weight losers etc. please fill me in on details. I also plan to stop eating all of the junk that i normally consume i.e. mcdonalds, burger king (cries), sweets, and sodas.

How many and what math, science and english classes do you have to take to be in Running Start? What diffrent types of subjects do they offer in those classes? Do you have to pass a college level test in each of those subjects? Do you have to have any idea of what you want to do? Because I don’t really. I want to be a wedding planner, maybe something with kids with disabilities. And I am super interested in like crazy rare(Shutter Island rare) Mental desises. What classes should I take for those? I want to start next year and I will be a junior in high school. How many electives can you have? What do you think of the whole running start program? I have a 3.3 or a 3.5 GPA..will that effect anything? What are the requirements of going? And here are the electives I am interested in…can I take all of them?

How Would You Improve This Poem (which Takes Ian Out Of The Running, I Suppose)?

“Lilacs”
The time to close the old house up had come around
At last, and she could not lay it aside, nor could
She turn her mind away from thoughts of childhood ease
When summer lay so languidly on sunny slopes
And stretched from rosy-fingered dawn to dun-gray dusk.
The old field where the lilacs grew she favored most,
Remembering enchantment, breathless, with bright eyes
And dancing for long hours, beneath the lilac boughs
Bent down with pale-purple panicles, redolent,
Resplendent in their regal robes, and the four lobes
Of each corolla perfumed with its May-time musk
That made the dusk of eventide the stuff of dreams.
The hallway where the children laughed was quiet now,
Their mirth a memory that resonated still
In quiet corners no one had explored in years.
And in the farthest one, beside the cellar door,
A pile of books lay toppled like a ruined tower,
Their leaves now faded by the sun that filtered in
The little window over them in afternoon.
At last, atop them all like a flag planted there
By some explorer of their muted mysteries,
There lay the cane her father used in later years,
When crippled by the ravages of time and tide,
He’d gone to roost, resigned at last, beside the fire.
The fondness that he’d had for that old crooked stick
She could not understand; when she came to visit
For the holidays a few years back her heart sank
When she saw him, a frail reminder of the strength
Of limb and laughter she remembered from her youth.
She’d noticed only the next morning that the trees,
The blessed lilacs of her carefree younger years,
Had been cut down, and wondered at the sense of it
And what great purpose had been served when beauty died.
She’d only learned the reason when she went to leave;
The sturdy wood and fragrant boughs that buoyed him
In youth and courtship served another purpose now.
Poor fool, thought she, who could destroy a thing so soaked
In memory, the spot where days of tender youth
Were spent in May morn fantasy, the place where he
Had courted and had wed and on an evening spread
A blanket out beneath night’s vault of moonlit peace
For this, a rough, unfinished piece of homely wood.
And yet, despite the anger that welled up in her,
She raised the handle to her face and wept, as though
By watering this stick, the tree could grow anew,
And bloom in perfect panicles and fill the air
With the perfume of youth, and at the thought she smiled
So softly it was heard around the world and left.

Running Away From My Life?

Tagged Under : , , ,

I am 31 years old, in college, working 2 jobs and getting married in 2 months. I have been planning this wedding for 2 years to the love of my life and everything is going crazy. My mother and i fight nonstop about her offering to help and then guilt’s me when she does help. My mother-in-law is controlling and can’t stop butting her nose in. It is making my fiance and i argue more than we ever have. I seriously am debating just running away until it all blows over. I can’t take this any more. I was happy a week ago and now I am so unbelievably depressed. I just want it to end and it is no longer the happiest time of my life. I want to run away and not look back.

Running a wedding planning business

When running a wedding business you get personally involved with the clients for whom you are planning the event.

Depending on the professionalism of others (wedding providers, hairstylist, photographer, hired personnel etc) you have to always be prepared that something may not go as you’ve planned and be able to come up quickly with a back up solution.

This is not an eight hours per day job. You have to be flexible and to meet and extend your clients’ wishes. And being available for them when they need advice or just a reassurance (although is late in the evening or during the weekend) will do your business and your reputation a lot of good. And in this business a good reputation means more than expensive publicity in magazines or on the radio.

Survey the market and keep an eye on the competition. You can’t cover the whole market, so think which target suits you best (professional women, young couples, etc). Make your fees competitive and from time to time offer discounts. Don’t take more jobs that you can perform. It’s better to accomplish only one perfectly, than to do two lousy ones.

When running a wedding business you will get to know all sorts of people involved in the wedding business. Making a good impression will help you in time create a good network. You never know when you may need them.

You have to be very well organized and increase your financial skills not only for managing your own business, but that will help a lot also when the bride wants something, but the budget is too tight to meet her requirements.

It is not an easy business, but is one of the most rewarding types. To make your wedding business successful takes time, energy and devotion. But if you are willing to work hard and if you love what you’re doing, you will certainly succeed.
