Maid Of Honor Speech For A Painful Marriage?

Tagged Under : , , , ,

I need to make a speech at a wedding soon but the problem is, first of all the bride’s a pain in the neck and not a joy to know, but mostly she’s not in love with the groom. She’s mainly getting married because she’s getting older and all of her friends are married and she feels left out. Her and the groom fight every two days and it’s always been this way with them. They don’t have much in common, he doesn’t like to hang out with her and she’s generally only got negative things to say about their relationship.
If you’re wondering why I’m doing the speech then, I’m her sister.
So, considering I can’t say the “you two are meant for each other” “___ is such a lovely woman” “I know you two will make each other so happy” “you will be together forever” lines because they’re all lies, what the hell can I say?! Thanks

Opinions On My Speech Idea?

Tagged Under : , ,

I have to give a special occasion speech. (wedding, funeral, Oscars, toast, roast, etc.) It can be made up, and I can pretend to be anyone. My first thought was to be the maid of honor for a wedding, the twist was I was to be Kim Kardashins maid of honor. Teacher said I was trying to hard to be funny…
My current Idea is to be accepting some type of conservation award for rejuvenating the polar bear population. Sound more serious? What kind of actual facts can I use? Like, is there even a well known award for something like this?

Wedding Speech – Thanking My Mother?

Tagged Under : , , ,

My mother is a bit of a tricky person and very critical. I know she has done her best for me in regards to education, what is right and wrong etc, but I have not had much to do with her if I can because she is hurtful. She is like this to two of my other sisters as well, but favours another. She has however insisted on paying for the wedding and giving bits of advice (not always helpful). I am 46 and need to say something about her at the wedding but not sure what. Help!

Is My Speech For My Sisters Wedding Next Week Rubbish?

Tagged Under : , , , , ,

This is my speech for my sisters wedding- what do you think? to boring? what can be done to improve it????????
Good afternoon, Ladies & Gentlemen – For those of you that don’t know me my name is **** and I am (sister)’s, younger sister. For those of you who do know me; then you are truly blessed.
On behalf of the Bridesmaids & Ushers I would like to thank the Bride & Groom. It has truly been a wonderful day so far and I know we all feel privileged to have been a part of (brother in law) and (sister)’s special day.
I know (sister) also wants me to mention how excited, happy and privileged she is to now Mrs*****. Having a new mother and father in law, sisters and nieces and nephews is a dream come true. I know that she has loved you all like family since the beginning .
Now, I am in no way used to public speaking, although my boyfriend, Jake will assure you I am always talking! Actually I think any of you here who know us sisters – know that both myself and (sister), are very used to talking and talking *pause* and talking some more.
I remember their first date. At the time I was going to buy half of (sister)house, rent it out so we could go travelling together. That evening, watching them both, I turned to my mum and told her it would never happen. She would marry him. Needless to say my mum owes me £100 – you can settle that later!
When (sister) first asked me to do this speech today I asked if she would be happy for me to sing the song famously sung by Bette Midler- “Wind Beneath my Wings”. She looked at me lovingly, tilted her head and replied “Suzy you’re so funny”- I don’t think she thinks of me as a singing sensation!
I personally thought the song was highly suitable. I’m extremely loud, dramatic, love attention and known as a complete drama queen. My sister is slightly more reserved and I adore her. (sister) you are the best friend I have ever had and I adore you.
I couldn’t be happier that she has married (brother in law) today. I know that he will look after her and protect her- and make for a comical brother in law. Otherwise he has me to deal with!
I was specifically briefed before this speech not to announce any embarrassing stories about (sister), which I personally felt would lead to a very dull speech. So to liven it up Id like to make a rather shocking announcement which transcends from what I was previously talking about. What many of you won’t know, especially (brother in law) and (sister), is that I have been practicing very hard, day and night, night and day- and believe it or not even weekends and in my sleep- to be able to stand here and sing “Wind Beneath my Wings” song for my sister and her new husband. This includes practicising in the car, in the shower, on the phone, in bed and outside KFC for spare change. Amazingly I still have a boyfriend actually!
****** Start playing music from ipod- piano version of Wind Beneath My Wings***********
And after all that practice,
………………….. I’m still absolutely awful at singing! So Id like to wrap this up by asking my friend Vicky to do the honours as I dedicate this song to “The Bride and Groom”.
(Everyone else to stand and toast- To the Bride and Groom)

Daughter Of The Bride Speech Help!?

Heey;
ok so im 16 and my mom is getting married in a few weeks and my step-dad-to-be has asked me to write a speech.
i have no idea what i am supposed to say so i will give you some information about me, my mom and Elliot
Im 16 i have a 12 year old sister and we both love mom and Elliot
she had me when she was 17, she was with my dad for five month she then got engaged to my would-have-been-step-dad but he died a week before the wedding and 3 weeks before i was born. my she was engaged to my sisters dad when she got pregnant with Lilly but he turnt out to be a moron and legged it when he found out she was pregnant. we then moved to Michigan from England when i was 6 and met her fiance but they didn’t start dating until 3 years ago. their relationship lasted a year but my mom broke up with him because she was going though a rough time and found it easier to walk away than to talk.they got back together 6 months after when elliot sang the song “look at me” to my mom, exactly a year later he took her to the same bar and sang the same song and then asked her to marry him.
everybody thinks that my mom and elliot are made for each other and i can see it.
my sister calls him dad because he would sing to her every night and read both of us. Im going to sing “look at me” for them as their first dance.
me and my mom have an amazing relationship as i stopped seeing my dad when he was 10 because he couldn’t afford to fly from England to America. when i was 15 he came back into my life and brought a house out here but he was killed 3 days later :(
hopefully that is enough information for you to give me a rough/good guide
Thankks Ellie<33

I Need A Concluding Sentence To End My Speech! 10 Pts Easy!!?

Tagged Under : , , , ,

My topic is vietnamese weddings and I am talking about traditions and rituals.. My intro shares a short story ” You would assume that in a traditional westernize marriage, you see bride and groom walk down aisle and hold hands, but in a vietnamese wedding I have attended to, I have seen a groom do 100 pushups before he can meet his wife on the wedding day. ” I share this with you because I want to show you how different vietnamese culture is.. ETCCCC
SO My ending can be in three ways:
GIVE AN AHA moment
circular: ( I need help here) Like something that ties in with that story something like “so if you going to marry vietnamese, be prepared to work out those guns.. < see that's lame..but something tying everything together..
or
a quote, lesson, something to leave the audience pondering about..
I kinda want to say " America is so diverse and dynamic. It is always changing, but one thing that will remain is culture.. (so I inform you today so if you marry any culture, just know what to expect)
SEE my ideas aren't really developed yet.. CAN SOMEONE HELP PLEASE =)

Father Of The Bride Speech For A Pregnant Bride?

Tagged Under : , , ,

Hi -
my sister is getting married in a week and my Dad has suggested to me that he is struggling with what to say for his speech. I think he would love to stand up and talk about her childhood/achievements/future/talk a bit about the groom, but the issue is my sister will be 6 months pregnant, has given up any course she started even though she is very capable, and has never wanted to stick at a job. Her fiance is kind of a no hoper who my dad would never say he didn’t like, but you can tell he’s kinda pissed off that they’re getting married when his daughter isn’t very settled with life, plus there’s a baby on the way, and it’s all kind of stressful for him.
My Dad is fine at public speaking and has done it lots of times, but i think he’s genuinely stumped at what to say about my sister. He would never be unkind, and wants to say lots of nice things, but all the usual ones you might talk about aren’t really true.
Any advice on what would be appropriate to say would be so appreciated!
Thanks!
