I have to write a ceremonial speech for english class….ugh. i hate writing with a passion. anyways, a ceremonial speech is something like an inaugural address, a funeral speech, a wedding toast, a graduation speech, a pre-game pep talk….yada yada. I’ve been given lots of ideas, but I have no idea how to get started or how to even care….i’m stuck. Help?

my sister is getting married in a week and my Dad has suggested to me that he is struggling with what to say for his speech. I think he would love to stand up and talk about her childhood/achievements/future/talk a bit about the groom, but the issue is my sister will be 6 months pregnant, has given up any course she started even though she is very capable, and has never wanted to stick at a job. Her fiance is kind of a no hoper who my dad would never say he didn’t like, but you can tell he’s kinda pissed off that they’re getting married when his daughter isn’t very settled with life, plus there’s a baby on the way, and it’s all kind of stressful for him.
My Dad is fine at public speaking and has done it lots of times, but i think he’s genuinely stumped at what to say about my sister. He would never be unkind, and wants to say lots of nice things, but all the usual ones you might talk about aren’t really true.
Any advice on what would be appropriate to say would be so appreciated!
