Super quick background – planning my wedding in cancun, got a quote for fees…then realised fiance would want info in spanish as he can read it more quickly. Then i took a look, and realised the quotes in dollars are much more expensive. the basic wedding ceremony set up is 350 dollars more expensive when the price is quoted in dollars rather than in pesos
My fiance said that sometimes in mexico if they quote prices in dollars – they use a 10 pesos to 1 dollar conversion rate (rather than the 13 or so that its valued at now) and that could explain the price difference. is that standard? is that the real reason or is it like a “foreigner tax”
the websites were in english so i just dashed off my emails in english…but if asking for pesos/writing in spanish gets me a cheaper rate then ill have to do that – we’re living in monterrey on mexican salaries so if for everything there is a markup…itll make a difference

am an American married to a Turkish man. I’m 27 he is 31. We have been married for almost 2 years. Most of the time we are very happy, but we have arguments once in a while. I can be moody sometimes but I’m very loving and supportive, I work and do everything around the home, and I cook Turkish food almost every day. When I went to Turkey for the first time 6 months ago, my MIL and FIL threw us a wedding reception/party at a restaurant. Before going to Turkey my husband told me not to be greedy after we get our presents and give his mom maybe 5 gold coins to pay for the reception, I agreed. During the reception my MIL gave me a gold necklace with a huge gold coin and we received some money and coins, maybe we had around 50-70 guests. Afterwards, I had to give her everything ( including the necklace she gave me) and they traded it in for $ and I got a diamond white gold tennis bracelet. To be fair, I didn’t put a dime towards the reception but I bought my dress. I feel used, and would appreciate it if a Turkish girl or guy can tell me if they feel that I’m being used or if this is typical in turkish families.. My husband said that we didn’t get much in gifts, maybe around $600 which I know is bullshit. I flipped out on him and told him how I felt. He told his mom and she said everything she did was for us. I’m afraid of being used for a 10 year greencard or citizenship. My husband has a 2 year greencard and I don’t think I want to renew it for him because I feel that his family used me. ( My husband translated for me during the vacation,, I don’t speak turkish.) Plus, I’m still waiting on my real diamond for my engagement ring. I know my husband loves me very much, he works hard and tries to take care of me. I don’t always feel respected, but I know Turkish men are different. I’m beautiful and treat him good but I’m still insecure of the situation. I don’t know what to do, I’m angry, but we plan on starting a family .
We are using a globe shape clear vases, filled with water. With one peonie floating in it. I feel like that if the vase just stood alone on its own then it would look barren. Does anyone have any ideas of how we can decorate the area surronding the vase to accent it. Our colors are aqua and mossy green. Thanks.
So I’m on a very limited budget and I really like the look of these bouquets, but what should the flower girl drop down the aisle? I don’t know how much the silk petals would clash and I don’t want little bits of felt on the ground. Is there something else she could drop or would the silk flowers work? Any other suggestions?

Ok here’s the deal. I know it sounds mean but my fiance’s grandmother has a really horrible lazy eye. I think it looks just god AWFUL. She’s pretty senile so I was thinking of letting her forget about the wedding and just letting another older lady I know stand in her place instead. Or in the very least just telling his grandmother to come to the reception and not the ceremony. This lady and I are friends and I would be delighted if she would be in it instead. My fiance is not doing any of the planning so he would be clueless and probably could care less. I do also fear for his grandmother’s ability to walk down the aisle. She has terrible vision and she could potentially get hurt so I feel as though I’d be doing both of us a favor. What do you think?
