Wedding Planning Tips

I am engaged and would like some advice from those who have been there done that for the planning. Is there something you forgot to get that you wished you would have? something you wished you had forgotten? ideas for what works and what doesn’t? please and thank you!!!

Hi, my fiance and I are getting married in March 2012. The venue and registrar are booked but that is as far as we’ve got. We only got engaged recently but didn’t want a long engagement: we just want to start our lives together properly.
The colour scheme is red, champagne and white, using the red an accent colour.
We are trying to keep costs low as we would rather use the money for our life together rather than blow it on one special day.
However, we still have 50 daytime guests, and 100 evening guests. (We got a package deal, and both have huge families!)
I like the idea of a wish tree rather than a guestbook as it will add to the decoration of the room and be an interesting way of getting messages. Afterwards we will put the ‘wishes’ into a scrapbook. My question is how would you do a wish tree? What colours should we use? How/where do we get the labels? Do you use branches and ‘make’ a tree, or use paper or what?
Also, wedding favours. To fit in with the colour scheme and our DIY ideas, we are going to give the guests homemade ’spread the love’ jam in little jars. Should we only make red jams, or use red labels and have a variety of jams? Also, do you only give wedding favours to the guests at the sit down meal or do you have them for everyone who attends. (I have only attended weddings as a full day guest so I don’t know).
Any other cute ideas you can offer us?

Hi, I’m putting together a report about weddings and would appreciate any input from experience that you had. Were there any particular things that you found hard to deal with or you wish you had more information before hand? Did you have a wedding planner? or have you done everything yourselves, etc.

My bridesmaid experience was so hilariously not put together, no one knew where anyone was or what anyone was supposed to be doing.. I remember sitting in the Brides room with all these different characters, totally paranoid and freaking out like we just smoked pot or something.. We had this one bridesmaid who kept having a fear of falling down the aisle.. I started saying they should make a movie about bridesmaids and what goes on at a wedding from their dressing room..Something kind of comedy, maybe like a Kevin Smith film meets Wedding Crashers..
