I don’t understand why anyone would get a marriage license BEFORE setting a date. To allot enough time to get good caterers, a good venue, dresses, send invitations etc. you would need to get started at least 6 months in advance; a year or more would be ideal. A license lasts for about 60 days, and even though in theory you could plan a nice wedding in 60 days, the stress would drive one crazy! A wedding is the biggest party you’ll ever throw in your life and you usually only get one shot at it!
