  1. You could but you would have to realize that the only way couples will choose a home business over a corporation is cost. So you would have to offer your services for cheaper than you would like.

  2. Well it depends on your location and if you know what the hell your doin but if you are in the right area and have a good setup then ya its a good business. Think of it like this people are going to get married no matter what just like i am an owner and cook in a restaurant cause hey people have got to eat its a necessity to life. hope i helped

  3. Probably not right away. Most markets already have plenty of experienced wedding planners, and without any actual experience you won’t have any references to give potential clients.

The best thing to do would be to ask friends, relatives, friends-of-friends if you can plan their weddings to get a little experience and some happy customers. Then you can try and start your business. Also, form contacts with bakers, caterers, photographers, etc. Clients like to see that you are connected to these services.

  4. I think a wedding planner at home would do you great.
Why would they say your too creative? Wouldn’t you want that? Wouldn’t you want your clients to have a unique wedding? One that they could remember and tell their friends so you could get more business? But its their choice….
If you don’ want to start your own business at home, keep trying, someone would have to take you =)

  5. If you establish a name for yourself and there is demand for the type of weddings you’re interested in doing, then yes!

However, I would not quit my day job to pursue this! I would pursue this as a weekend business or second job. I would start by planning a few smaller weddings and getting your feet wet. If you find your business is exploding, then I would consider making wedding planning your full-time business/job.

  6. I think it would be… just make sure to get a name for yourself before you start being expensive…..good luck….

  7. Too creative is a good thing but remember it is the customer that counts when you get to organize a wedding. As others have mentioned you need experience and a portfolio to get started so ask around, volunteer do whatever it takes to get the first job.

Talk to other local wedding suppliers see if they can help you. Offer to work on a trial basis for one of the bigger companies.

Alternatively if you are bold then get a nice website, some nice business cards and boldly step out on your own. People will assume you are bigger than you are if you have the right props.
